About Miller Studio
Shown here circa 1930 is John Floyd Miller, photographer and founder of Miller Studio Photography. The family owned and operated photography business which began very early in the 20th century, in the year 1910. Linda’s grandfather, Floyd Miller opened up shop on Main Street in upstate New York. Floyd was the photographer for the town. He photographed weddings, family portraits, newborn babies and much, much more. His tool was a bellows style camera with a large black cape that he would throw over his head and camera at the time of exposure of the film. To light the subject, he used a stand with a small flat top on which he would ignite magnesium to produce the “flash”. He had a dark room in his studio and developed and printed all of his images himself. After the prints dried, together Linda’s grandmother and mother would hand color each and every print. Today, Floyd's grand-daughter Linda Miller, proudly continues this family business with her own unique style of the finest quality photography in the area.
